National Children's Month

National Children's Month

The 2025 National Children's Month theme, “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” is super important. It directly tackles the massive threat of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM), which are huge problems in the digital world. It's a call to action to completely stop these abuses and fiercely protect kids' safety and rights.

The government does have strong laws like the Anti-Child Pornography Act and specialized units in the police and DSWD. This shows they are serious about their role as the primary protector of children. However, the biggest issue is implementation.

Enforcing these laws against online abuse is tough because the internet is global and the material spreads so fast. We need the government to invest way more in digital forensics, training for law enforcement, and providing better, faster support for survivors. Justice needs to be quick and                                                                                         penalties severe to actually stop abusers.

Protecting kids isn't just about safety; it's about dignity and rights—like access to good education and healthcare. The focus on OSAEC/CSAEM is a chance to make safety education mandatory and hold institutions responsible for creating genuinely safe spaces, online and off. The government has the laws, but they must ensure these protections actually work for every child.
